Open the WhatsApp message or email where you received your planner PDF and save it to your Files app or Photos. Open GoodNotes and tap the "+" button to create a new document, then choose "Import PDF" and select your saved file. GoodNotes will preserve the hyperlinked tabs automatically, so once the file opens you can tap any month or day tab and jump straight to it — no scrolling required.
In Notability, tap the "+" icon and choose "Import," then select your planner PDF from Files. Notability keeps the same page structure as the original PDF, but hyperlink navigation is more limited than in GoodNotes — use the page thumbnail view (top-left icon) to jump between sections quickly instead.
Both apps support standard PDF import: open the app, tap "Add" or "+", and select "Import from Files." Your planner will open with all pages in order. Xodo supports clickable internal links, so tabs will still work; Penly currently displays pages in sequence without tab-jumping, so use the page-scrubber at the bottom of the screen instead.
To print, open your PDF and select Print. Choose A4 or A5 paper size, and set scaling to "Actual Size" (not "Fit to Page") to keep margins and hole-punch spacing accurate. If binding into a folder or disc-bound planner, punch holes after printing rather than before, and print on 100gsm paper or heavier so pen ink doesn't bleed through.
PDF won't open on my device: Make sure you've downloaded the full file rather than a WhatsApp preview thumbnail — re-download from the original chat and open with "Save to Files" before importing.
Hyperlinks or tabs aren't clickable: This happens when a PDF is imported as an image instead of a document. In GoodNotes, always use "Import PDF," not "Insert Image," to keep tabs working.
File looks too large or won't import: Close other open documents in your app first, restart the app, then try importing again — this clears temporary memory that can block large imports.
Pages appear blank after printing: Check your printer's scaling is set to "Actual Size," not "Fit to Page," which can shrink margins and push content off the visible print area.
